Finally the day came when Michael comes visit me in Ireland! I was so excited to show her the country I feel in love with. From the beautiful countryside to the friendly folks of the city. I decided since I still hadn't done the Cliffs of Moher, that it would be a perfect thing to do together. It is one of the biggest tourist attractions in Ireland and I would die if I didn't visit them before I left. How could I say I studying abroad in Ireland for 3 months and didn't make it to the Cliffs.
Michael's friend Christina joined her on her trip to the wonderful Emerald Isle. They got in pretty late on Friday night, so we just went out to get a bite to eat and headed to bed. We had a long day ahead of us with a day trip to the Cliffs of Moher.
With all day trips, the day started at 6:20 in the morning. Again, I booked a tour through Paddywagon because I know they are a good tour group. Most of the bus ride to the cliffs, I was asleep. We did make a stop at an Abbey, which looked just like all the other abbeys I have seen in Ireland. I was still enjoyed looking at all the different Celtic crosses. We then made our way to the mini cliffs which was a great teaser to the bigger cliffs. Again, I love just seeing all the greenery in the countryside, especially with a road run through them. I think I have about 100 picture of just that from all my different trips.
Finally we made it to the main attraction, THE CLIFFS OF MOHER (MWAHAHAHA)! Don't know why that came to mind, but I am just typing anything that comes to my head right now. We got 2 hours to spend here, which wasn't enough but it was still incredible. It was unreal how beautiful it was and pictures could not capture its beauty (but of course I tried). We were lucky enough to get a beautiful day with no rain and not too strong winds. Seeing how it is November, we definitely had the luck of the Irish on our side with this trip.
For anyone who loves Harry Potter, did you know some of it was filmed in Ireland. Ya, who knew right? But below that little island right next to the cliff was used in the 6th Harry Potter film. Still confused... I'll explain further. Remember when Dumbledore tells Harry about horcruxes and Dumbledore brings Harry to that cave. Well that cave is supposedly inside of these cliffs because they were standing on an island in front of it. And that little island is it!
We got back really late that night and all of us where really tired. we just decided to hang out in the apartment and I made them chicken katsu. We hung out and decided to sleep in the next day because we have all been busy and feels like we haven't slept in days.
The next day we started our day around 1 and headed into the city. I showed them the Christmas market and hit Grafton street to do some shopping. After that of course, I had to show them Temple Bar. We went to the pub that I went to on my birthday, We spent a good amount of time here getting some good old pub grub and I introduced them to Bulmers. We hung out listening to live music and catching up on stories. It was an early night because they were leaving early the next day. It was a great weekend hanging out with an old friend and her new one!
